In PE class today, the Titus Academy came and introduced us to their work-out program. For me, it was a bit too easy as I play intense tennis. But while looking around, I see almost 75% of all people panting (and one even vomited!). That brought me around a series of thoughts on why America is soooo fat, and no McDonald's is not the culprit.
The first and foremost thought that popped into my mind is that PE is made into a Nazi work camp. No ones likes it (*cough* Coach Gowen *cough*)! If only they made it more fun! Most of the week is spent inside the classroom learning about PE, rather than playing outside. It seems that teachers and administrators think that once students go into high school, they automatically become mature adults, complete B.S. Teens need fun activities as opposed to running for 25 minutes (football, soccer, dodgeball etc.).
The second observance of America came from lunch. America's parents are just too lenient with food. All that some eat for lunch is fries, fries and more fries. No wonder they're so chubby. Out of all the people who buy from the cafeteria, I might be the only one who eats the vegies they give out (it's nasty but I know it's good for me). Kids these days think that what they do now will be erased once the graduate and go off to college.
The last thought on my head is that people just don't make an effort. America has such a habit of procrastinating that it procrastinates on it's health. "Oh, I'll do it tommorrow", "Yeah, my shoe broke... yeah, it, uhm, just broke." You only get one life, why not take care of it. Sure homework and just plain life gets in the way but if you think creative, you'll be fit and healthy for all your life.
Here's a few links on obesity (1 and 3 is just pics... 2 is an article)
- Hmm, well posting calories sounds like a good idea to... OH MY GOD!
- Is fat the new normal?
- Dirty fat person sits on president's face
Got comments? Post them at the bottom! Also, if you see grammatical mistakes, please say!!! My English suck!
you're such a good kid. lol
ReplyDeletei think we are lazy and feel that everything should be of ease to us because mostly everything is: tv remote, cell phones, computers, "fast food." we all want everything now with as little work as possible. you can even take pills to lose weight without much other effort!
bottom line: americans are lazy. and p.e. is where they try to teach us not to be. but fail.
The food they sell is also to blame. If you walk into a store, it's hard to choose the good healthy foods when there's cheap twinkies and candy that you can buy instead. Also, "Why drink water when you can drink soda with 46 grams of sugar!"
