I saw a movie today, in the cheap movie theater which I hold dear to my heart. The movie presented a harsh depiction of life on the streets of an urban city, basically like all the "deep" movies nowadays. The acting was heart wrenching, the suspense killed, and the finale was a moral dilemma that ended righteously, so the movie says. Yet, I left the theater disconcerted, well, more pondering what I would have done in the same situation. And, I had absolutely no idea. I guess I was trying to answer the question, is taking illegal actions with moral reasoning justified (look for this theme in The Doll House youngins? But it just perpetuates the problem of where do we draw the line of intent? Because if justified intent is all one needs to break the law, then there would be nearly no one who truly felt they broke the law.
My thoughts were circular, and my conclusion unfinished. But I dearly hope that intent is valued somewhere in the law, but logically I know that it is not possible. I guess in the end, we should just have faith in the righteousness of humanity, but that in itself seems like an oxymoron.
you should see boondock saints. it's good and similar dilemma
