Blogging Tips

Recently, there has been a huge growth of bloggers in my friend circles and I might as well share the knowledge and know how I acquired in my experince.

1. Don't just blog about news. There are tons of sites out there devoted to news stories (ie CNN, Reuters, CNBC etc.) and don't make your own blog like them. Be personal.

I must say that I just spread news around when I first started. If you look around int he archives, most of the posts in the beginning were rudimentary copy-paste schemes.

2. Write about stuff you care and have knowledge about. For example, like right now, I'm posting about something that I feel that I have a lot of knowledge about. I would never tell someone how to write the perfect essay as I suck at grammer so I would never post about English mechanics on this blog.

3. Have a mix of funny and serious content. People like to scan, not read. Try not to have really long essays (which I am guilty of writing) without humor throughout. Or if it's a really serious topic, write another post to raise the amount of joy in this world.

4. Use pictures. I'm still trying to get to add more pictures onto this blog as it is pretty "uncolorful" but this is related to the next one.

5. Use blogging tools. If you are a Windows user, use Microsoft Writer (which I messed up somehow...). If you don't like to use that, use Scribefire with Firefox to make blogging much more easier.

6. Google Analytics. This little tool help me tailor my posts so that I can satisfy the most amount of people by seeing which posts recieved the most attention from people.

7. Comment on other people's blog. Blogging is a social experince, need I say more?

8. Respond to readers. Commenting on your posts will naturally come and as the writer of the blog, it is also your job to respond to them. That way, you have satisfied readers.

9. This post is getting too long, and I don't have anything else to put here. So...

10. Enjoy blogging!
