Water Fountains

Water Fountains - Our school seems to be lacking a good water fountain system. To illustrate my point, lets go through my typical day.

I arrive at school after biking there so I'm pretty thirsty, but my first class is in the top of the 700 building. Guess what, that water fountain tastes bad AND has an awful shot (it curves). I guess the ironic thing is that the fountain is in the language hall, where the students are expected to speak, making them even more thristy.

So I go through a few periods and arrive at band. The terrible thing about this year's schedule (along with many other things...) is that band is right after lunch, when my mouth if full of yucky stuff that I don't want to blow into my clarinet. My choices? Make it a choice, as I have to rinse my mouth out at the water fountain. But WHICH one? *Gasp* there's two right by each other.... such a waste of money.

Now, playing the clarinet takes a lot of breath and, a bit gross here, whatever you put into your mouth, spit comes out. Spit of course is made out of water, thus my body starts running out of water, so I proceed to my English class on top of the 900. Strangely, there's a water fountain design that's common in elementary school there, one high one and one low one. Makes me few like I'm in kindargarten...

Anyways, the funny thing about that is that if you operate the bottom one, the top one losses a majority of it's pressure, meaning that one person suffers. Then when the person using the top one gets closer to get some precious water, you let go and restore the pressure. The result? A very mad, water laden face starring at you.

Now outside, where the Floridian heat takes its toll, there seems to be a lack of water fountains... especially near the tennis courts. They seem to want the tennis players to dry out and wilt under the scorching sun. Still, there ARE some fountains, though not near by, at the track house. The problem? Frog infestations... actually, not really, but the water is pretty gross and I did see some frogs there in the water fountains.

Lovely huh?

  1. I took the photo at the top of this page, and whilst I'm perfectly happy for you to use it, my preference (and a requirement of using images on flickr, where it's hosted) is that you link back to my photo page. If you could please change the link on my photo to http://flickr.com/photos/cyron/268886883/ rather than http://farm1.static.flickr.com/88/268886883_0953a6f57d.jpg?v=0 it would be appreciated
