The Competitiveness

I'm glad Mr. German finally came out and talked about the changes we need in marching band. Let us review the choices first:

  1. One competitive marching band audition only - Out of the 3 choices, this one is definitely the best. That way, the marchers would be happy, the band could be winning and I would be concert happy. The only problem I find with this is that I probably still miss the Friday night ball games.
  2. Two bands: one competitive-audition only band and one general band - Ugh, this is probably the same thing as right now except with a better marching band... still this change would be better than nothing.
  3. Stay the same - Blasphemy for supporting this...
My idea? A combined marching band and a "pep" band.

Now, I sort of can see that games are sometimes the most enjoyable part of band but not everyone likes the marching. So why not combine the two and let people go to the games while only a select few march?

Instead of playing all concert music in class, we'll have "marching music day" and most afternoon rehearsals would be cut for all except for the ones that auditioned for the band and made it. So maybe like every Tuesdays,  everybody would come together and play the stands music and the ones just in the pep band leave while the marching band stay and continue with the actual marching.

Now, it wouldn't be fair for the pep band to have 3rd quarter break then would it? So during games, while the actual marching band march, the pep band would stay in the stands and play on for the team (who needs it if they don't improve) the whole game.

Maybe parades would be required for everyone as they're... sort of PR like stuff and other stuff I would have to think about.

Anyways, this is what I think fits me best. My opinion only but it'll be great if it came through.
