In light of the recent news of New York's Spitzer, I've decided to join in the fun. As you probably know by now, Spitzer was found to be "Client No. 9" (wonder who the first 8 is?) of the Emperor's Club escort service. He recently announced his resignation from his office due to immense pressure. This adds another tally to the numerous sex scandal of America.
1. Mark Foley - Probably the most well known recent scandal, in Florida at least. In my school, we used to compare Mr. Foley to Micheal Jackson, that shows the level of "fame" his scandal achieved. The scandal surfaced 6-weeks before midterms election in the form of electronic communications between him and various teens (I think mostly boys). Perhaps you might recognized this quote:
"Do I make you a little horny?"There are some even sicker transaction between him and a child:
Teen: im not 18 till feb 23The result of this is Republican humiliation and the resignation of Foley.
Maf54: i know.
Maf54: nothing will happen
Maf54: just dreaming
Maf54: don't worry
Teen: ya im still 17 till feb 23
Maf54: see you feb 24th
2. Bill Clinton - The most publicized and an important factor in the election of 2008, Bill's relation with Monica Lewinsky is quite defining of America right now. I know of some adults who's decision to vote for other Democrats in the Florida Primaries (though it didn't count) are influenced by Hillary's action during the scandal. Also in pop life, the quote:
I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky.became quite widely used (in the movie Man of the Year, Robin Williams used the statement "I did not have sex with that woman. I wanted to..." and may I said a very funny movie). After the secret was leaked out, may accused him of perjury and obstruction of justice and thus impeachable. This caused a 21-day Senate trial. He was eventually acquitted of all charges, but not of the humiliation.
3. Larry Craig - This one is not that famous but still a scandal (quite a major one too). When Mr. Craig was at a airport, he went to the restroom and met an undercover cop in the restroom. The police recounted the encounter in the following quote:
At 1216 hours, Craig tapped his right foot. I recognized this as a signal used by persons wishing to engage in lewd conduct. Craig tapped his toes several times and moves his foot closer to my foot. ... The presence of others did not seem to deter Craig as he moved his right foot so that it touched the side of my left foot which was within my stall area. Craig then proceeded to swipe his left hand under the stall divider several times, with the palm of his hand facing upward.Craig then replied using this sentence:
“I am not gay, I don’t do these kinds of things.”Kind of odd, eh? Oh, and he did vote to refuse to give states right to allow gay marriages.
