Budget Cuts + Pay Raises =?= Sagging Pants

You know those books where they state random laws that random states randomly pass? As in:

In Miami, it is forbidden to imitate an animal.
Unfortunately, law makers are still hard at work trying to create stupid (maybe not as stupid...) laws here in Florida.

We're experiencing some, monetary problems. The whole state in going into "frugal" mode, budget cuts everywhere, even the lawmakers themselves are reducing their own salaries. My dad, who works for the state, didn't mind that he didn't get a raise as he saw that the hardship was spread out. The Cabinet, Governor and state Legislatures are having their salaries cut by 10%.

So it is pretty sad to see the city of Tallahassee raise pay for some workers in this hard time. The lawmakers in Tallahassee are quite funny and sad. If you're going to slash the budget, what is with this salary increase? It's just like saying, "I need to lose wait, so I'll stop eating doughnuts but drink more 300 calories coffee!"

Since we're talking about lawmakers here, I just want to get this thing of my back. Florida’s Senate approved a bill that would prohibit public school students from wearing their pants too low. If the House passes the rule, Florida will become the first state with a “saggy pants” law.

This thing is just ludicrous! First of all, how the heck are you going to reinforce this thing? The moment the teacher starts pulling out the ruler to see if the person's pants is too low. BAM, the pants magically goes up when the person uses his/her (I doubt it will be a her though) hands to pull it up.

Second, this is a generational gap! Just take a look at the old NBA films. All their shorts are technically break my school's dress code! The more you make a fuss about this minute thing, the more the more the students will wear them. It's just standard reaction to a generational gap.

Last, if lawmakers says that sagging pants are a distraction to my education, why shouldn't guys with bulging arms that draws the attention of girls in class? Or how about girls who use make-up as they prevaricate the guys attention from the board to their faces? Heck, why don't just emulate what happened in Harrison Bergerson? Where everybody has "handicaps" on them so everybody is "equal?"

Inasmuch as philosophers only are able to grasp the eternal and unchangeable, and those who wander in the region of the many and variable are not philosophers, I must ask you which of the two classes should be the rulers of our State? - Plato
