TIme

I was just informed today of a pretty nasty (but probably extremely useful) experiment invovling your sleep cycle.

You know how all the normal people sleep for some 8 hours a day and spend the rest awake scurrying around and doing whatever they do? Well, what if we can take those 8 hours and spread them around... meanwhile, why not optimize them to "get the most" out of your sleep?

That's pretty much the jist of polyphasic sleep (many phases I assume...). The goal of it is to spread your sleep around and make you decend into deep sleep as soon as you hit the pillows. The result of this is that much free time is dug up and now in usuable form (though some might be in the depths of night).

Sounds intense? yeah...

But just take a look (see how much more grey is in the Uberman method?):

That grey extended grey area is extremely attractive for high schoolers who tend to be overworked. The problem with this though is that I am a high schooler, meaning school does dictate my life.

Now, I'm probably not going to try this till summer (which I'll probably do...).

  1. a friend from mine who graduated from chiles a few years before i did used to be a huge fan of uberman.

he told me a long time ago that it's very useful, but one missed nap can mess you up. it takes about 2or 3 (i don't remember) weeks to get used to it, and that initial period apparently is very difficult.

good luck! i always wanted to try it, but when school starts back up again, i imagine it'd be difficult.
